2. Miss Marion WHYTE was christened on 20 Jan 1779 or 1780 in Paisley. [Birth note: IGI LDS SCN 0822088 Patron sheet](UPDATE June 07. On ScotlandsPeople Baptism entry as IGI BUT with 1780 as a header)(UPDATE June 07: IGI 1041285 Par reg as 1780...On IGI LDS there are other children with mother Watterston or Waterstone) She was born before 20 Jan 1780. [Birth note: 15 Jan 1779 on IGI with Chr 20 Jan 1779] She died before Feb 1844. [Death note: She was a Teetotaller. She was 1st member of her TT Soc. to have a TT funeral of which there is an account in The Scottish Temperence Journal Jan 1844].
[General note: EBM C (Hoy) loaned CHC (G) a book and in it we found a newspaper cutting that stated JC Reid had a father John who had a father Fulton: and a wife Marion Whyte, eldest daughter of Andrew. We looked on IGI and found other data, which fits in, but spouses and Christenings may not be in our family]

Miss Marion WHYTE and Dr John REID M.D. were married on 3 Apr 1803 in Paisley, Middle Church.1 [Marriage note: IGI, and named White]. Dr John REID M.D. (son of Mr Fulton REID and Miss Janet ADAM) was born before 30 May 1779. [Birth note: Chr 30 May 1779] He was christened on 30 May 1779 in Paisley.2 [Christening note: from IGI]. He was educated in 1804/5 in University of Glasgow. [Education UPDATE: see general note] [NEED TO DEFINE SENTENCE: Burgess] [Burgess note from Burgess record in Paisley: 245 Muir Burgess. Paisley 18th January 1806. John Muir vintner in Causeyside has entered Burgess of the Borough and found Alexr Rule (?) Baker there -
Cautioner for three pounds six shillings &eightpence freedom fines.- Alex Rule(?) John Muir.

Mr John Reid surgeon in Paisley has entered Burgess and found Mr John Muir writer Paisley as Cautioner for half a guinea of Entry money. John Reid John Muir.

1808 Poss NOT he was a Doctor of Medicine in Paisley, Glasgow. [Occupation UPDATE: see general note] He died on 22 Aug 1827.3 [[Death note: Only if "our" JR: 1830 found in University of Glasgow archives][UPDATE entered in Nov '06 as 22 Aug 1827. [General note: We had data here from Glasgow University Archives but now think that there were 2, if not 3, John Reid studying medicine at the time and the notes related to another](UPDATE Nov 2006: It appears his surgery qualification was from London 1814)(His son JCR 1852 from Glasgow)
[He was commissioned as an Officer on HMS Esk, a frigate (*). (from EBM Croker (nee Hoy) This fact may be in error. The ship may have been of a different class and slightly different name.)]]]. (UPDATE Nov 2006 from documents found in family archives!)(He became a Surgeon 17 Aug 1815: I assume in RN because his Surgeon award from London was 15 April 1814 stated in (a document) Commission for Esk in 1824)(Prior to this as an Assistant Surgeon on Akbar)(Surgeon on ESK a Sloop (*) 15 Oct 1824)(Died 22 Aug 1827) Miss Marion WHYTE and Dr John REID M.D. had the following children:
