Parents were William and Susanna](IGI LDS Susana) About 1841 he was a Gardener in Ickenham.9 About 1851 he was a Gardener.10 [Occupation note: 1851 Census] He lived in Back Lane, Ickenham about 1851.10 [Residence note: 1851 Census] He lived in Ickenham Hall about 1861.12 [Resided at note: 1861 census. Also a visitor Susan E Anderson 11 b Ickenham. Who?] About 1861 he was a Gardener. About 1869 he was a Gardener.13 [Occupation note: on Marriage document of his son, Henry Edward] About 1871 he was a Parish Clerk and Sexton.14 He lived in Ickenham, Back Lane about 1871.14 [Resided at note: as father to Henry E ball] He died before 9 Jan 1875.4,15 [[[[Death note: Buried 9 Jan 1875][Ball family grave, St. Giles Church Ickenham.

[Letter from JA Ralph, Verger reads "The headstone was discovered purely by accident. It had toppled and was covered in about 2 inches of soil and grass. The surface is badly eroded and extremely difficult to read."
"Headstone has WILLIAM BALL and below 4 lines (not readable) and ELIZABETH BALL and below 4 lines (not readable) and GEORGE BALL and below 4 lines (not readable).
The Footstone has W.B. 1875 and below E.B. 1868 and below G.B. 1866"][Possibly FBMD Mar q 1875 aged 74 Uxbridge 3a 23]]]] He was buried on 9 Jan 1875 in St Giles, Ickenham.7 [Burial note: aged 74 in Parish register transcription by HFHS] [[General note: I have also found in 1841 a family living in Hammersmith with William, Elizabeth and William of correct ages but rest of family different][Also William, a gardener, as aged 40: Elizabeth as aged 40: George 14: Arthur 11: Charlotte 5: and Ann Pew 4 and John Pew 1. (cf another Pew from memory *** . NOV '07: I cannot find a Pew now!!! Pugh?) (Also next door was a female Servant Sarah Huggins as aged 20 (to Rev'd John Addison, as a Clerk)]]

[A William Ball aged 15 on 1841 census is living with Robert Stent aged 20 and Elizabeth Treadaway aged 1. Is this the same person? Age is 3 years different. Note: 1841 census usually rounded down the age of over 15's to nearest 5 (but an Emma nearby was as age 16)]]

Mr George BALL was born before 14 Jan 1827 in Middlesex.20 [Birth note: 1841 census aged 14. Born in County] He was christened on 14 Jan 1827 in Harefield, Middlesex.21 [Christening note: IGI] He died before 3 Feb 1866.22,23 [[Death note: Ball family grave, St. Giles Church Ickenham.
Footstone G.B. 1866 (generally gravestones have death dates)][FBMD: Mar q 1866 aged 36 Uxbridge 3a 19]]] He was buried on 3 Feb 1866.5 [Burial note: 3 Feb 1866 aged 36] [General note: A Burial is recorded in St Giles, Ickenham records (source: HFHS) of a George Ball on 3 Feb 1866 aged 36. Birth and Christening c 1827. Therefore approx. 2 year "error" if same person. We have therefore assumed same person, though. Was age 38?](Cannot find him on censuses ?? A few b London, Middx. and other places but not near Harefield)

Mr Arthur BALL was born on 15 May 1830 in Middlesex.9,24 We seem to have two Arthur. [[Birth note: 1841 Census aged 11 BiC living in Ickenham][date on IGI Par reg (but not on FBMD)]] (No suitable Arthur on 1851 (there is a Coach Man ? with no birth place): therefore did he die? But cannot see a suitable death on FBMD)

1861 there is an Arthur Ball 28 b West Drayton with family (wife Jane 23 b Bedford) in a Militia Depot, Goldington Road in Bedford as a Serjeant (and others as Sergeant.)

There is another Arthur 60 Draper b in Bracknell (as Bracknall) on 1891 which I mistook because of daughter Clara b c 1870 in Bedford and living in Sandy AND a widowed sister Charlotte Butter/s ? 52 b Ickenham

Miss Charlotte Ann BALL was born before 27 Dec 1835.27 [Birth note: 1841 census aged 5 named Charlotte][Baptised 27 Dec 1835 (IGI Par reg)]] She was baptized on 27 Dec 1835 in St Giles, Ickenham.7,26 [Baptism note: Parish register transcription by Hillingdon Family History Society. (also IGI SCN 0568852)] [[General note: on 1851 there is a CB aged14 and b St. Giles, Middlesex (as others, which is a parish), not 16, visiting in Lambeth, a Robert Crofts, 22 (Artist) and Jane, 20. (and Jane a few months old: poss Bon FBMD and also poss D because not on 1861). FBMD has marrriage of a Robert Crofts and possibly a Jane Ball Sep q 1850 Newington 4 440. (Jane Ball not on IGI). (R and J Crofts also on 1861)
Did not find CAB on 1851? or 1861. No marriage on FBMD. There is a death Sep q 1841 of Charlotte (not Ann) in Uxbridge (R-d) 3 228.
(1841 a Jane Ball 10 in Brentford with parents Henry and Mary. Also others of similar age in Middx. inc. in St Giles and St George (Finsbury) aged 10 with parents George and Jane)] [Conclusion - "Ours" probably died young]]

Mr Arthur BALL was born before 1852.28,29 We seem to have two Arthur. [Birth note: see Burial record 1 May 1852 aged 4m] cf 1841 has an Arthur aged 11, so were there two? or not a son, poss a grandson?. FBMD does not have a suitable birth of an Arthur c 1840 or 1852 **. Query actually 4m ** when died or not registered?
